Thyroid
Thyroid hormone has a number of important functions in the body. It is essential that the thyroid gland be completely
evaluated. At Center For Age Management TSH, free T4, free T3 and anti thyroid hormone antibodies are measured. Many
patients have symptoms of low thyroid and are frequently missed by the conventional evaluation that frequently measures
TSH only.
T3 is needed for fat loss. At Center For Age Management we fully evaluate the thyroid gland and replace
to obtain optimal function. The thyroid controls cell growth and metabolism, improves heart and vascular health, renews
energy, affects concentration, regulates body temperature and has an affect on cholesterol levels.
In premenopausal women it can affect the menstrual cycle as well.
Symptoms of low thyroid include depression, weight gain, fatigue, dry skin, hair loss, heavy menses,
elevations in cholesterol, constipation and poor focus. As we age, our thyroid levels sometimes decrease and our body
temperature and metabolism dip below normal.
Symptoms of low thyroid include fatigue, weight gain, increase in cholesterol, fluid retention, cold
hands and feet, constipation, memory loss, depression and dry skin. Supplementation of thyroid hormone is easy and
inexpensive. The goal is to restore T3 and T4 to their natural ratio and blood concentrations.
