Pregnenolone
Pregnenolone is produced from cholesterol and is the "grandmother hormone" of all steroid hormones in the body.
Pregnenolone acts as a precursor to our essential steroid hormones such as DHEA, Testosterone, Estrogen, Glucocorticoids,
and Mineralocorticoids.
Pregnenolone has positive effects on memory, mood, and the ability to cope with life's stressors. In rat
studies, pregnenolone affects attention span and may have some correlation with attention deficit disorder. Pregnenolone
seems to affect the perceptions of color and spatial memory.
In some studies pregnenolone increased the resistance of mitochondrial function to oxidative stress. It
can decrease the discomforts from arthritis and helps the immune system and decrease the neurotoxicity of B amyloid and
glutamate.
