Bio-Identical Hormones

Bio Identical hormones are derived from yam or soy and are chemically the same as the hormones you used to make. They are preferable to the synthetics such as Premarin or Provera because they are better tolerated. Premarin for example is about 200 times stronger than the estrogen you make. It can stay in your body for up to 3 months after the last dose.

Premarin is given orally which directs it down a metabolic pathway that in susceptible patients becomes a carcinogen. Oral estrogens in general increases CRP, (a marker of inflammation), also increases triglycerides, promotes clot formation, weight gain and lowers growth hormone levels.

Provera and natural progesterone differ greatly. Progesterone is calming to the brain, while Provera is irritating. Provera negatively impacts the lipid profile and increases the risk of breast cancer. Provera has been known to increase facial hair and acne.

Methyl Testosterone once was used to replace male testosterone. It was removed from the market because it caused an increase in liver cancers. However, ignoring this, Methyl testosterone (Estrotest), is still prescribed by a significant number of physicians for women for improving their libido.

Bio Identical testosterone is a healthier alternative.
